Your sponsor is the person who invited you to join eXp Realty. They are not necessarily the same person as your broker, who is the person who licenses you to do business in your state or province.

Your sponsor can be anywhere in the world.

The most important thing is that you feel like your sponsor understands your goals and can support your efforts. You should be able to connect with them easily and get the help you need when you need it.

So don't worry if your sponsor isn't local.

There are plenty of great sponsors out there who are willing to help you succeed, no matter where they are.

Here are some things to look for in a sponsor:

Someone who has experience in the real estate industry

Someone who is familiar with eXp Realty

Someone who is passionate about helping others succeed

Someone who is a good fit for your personality and goals

If you're not sure where to find a sponsor:

Ask your friends or colleagues if they know anyone who is a sponsor at eXp.

Reach out to eXp Realty directly and ask for a referral. Look for sponsors on social media or online forums. The most important thing is to find someone who you feel comfortable with and who you can trust to help you succeed.

The cost to join eXp Realty varies depending on your location.

In the United States, the startup fee is $149 and the monthly fee is $85. All agents are on an 80/20 split until they cap at $16,000. After that, you go to 100% for the remainder of your anniversary year minus a $250 transaction fee. After $5000 in capped transaction fees, you’ll go to $75 / transaction. There is a $25 broker review fee on every transaction and a $40 risk management fee on each transaction until it caps at $500 for the year.

In Canada, the startup fee is $199 and the monthly fee is $139. All agents are on an 80/20 split until they cap at $16,000. After that, you go to 100% for the remainder of your anniversary year minus a $285 transaction fee. After $5700 in capped transaction fees, you’ll go to $75 / transaction. There is a $29 broker review fee on every transaction and a $17 risk management fee on each transaction until it caps at $200 for the year.

Note: If you are a new agent or haven’t closed at least three transactions in the previous 12 months, you’ll need to join the eXpand Mentoring program. For your first three transactions with eXp Realty, you’ll receive additional support and guidance from a certified mentor near your market and pay an additional 20% for these first three transactions (60/40 split total). After these three transactions, you graduate to the standard 80/20 split.

The cost of joining eXp Realty is relatively low compared to other brokerages.

The 80/20 split is very generous, and you can earn even more money if you exceed the cap.

The eXpand Mentoring program is a great way to get started if you’re a new agent.

eXp Realty is happy to consider requests to honor caps from agents who are joining from other brokerages. However, each request is reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

To be considered, you must:

Have a valid cap from your current brokerage.

Be joining eXp Realty as a full-time agent.

Have a good reputation in the real estate industry.

If you meet these criteria, you can fill out the application on this page. I will then get you the "cap deferment" paperwork required to process your exception.

However, eXp Realty is not a "hand-holding" brokerage. New agents who are successful at eXp are those who are self-motivated and willing to take initiative. They are also willing to ask questions and seek advice when they need it.

There is never a perfect time to move, especially when you have pending deals. I've seen agents get caught in the cycle of waiting for a deal to close before moving, but then they have another deal they write up waiting for the closing.

At some point, you have to weigh the cost of your pending transactions against missing out on all the benefits you'll receive at eXp, including the stock, ICON program, revenue sharing, kvCORE, training, split, etc.

Here are some factors to consider when making your decision:

The terms of your current independent contractor agreement: What are the rules for pending transactions?

The value of your pending transactions: How much money are you risking by leaving your current brokerage?
