5 Ways Canva Will Change Your Business

Recently, I was chatting with another business owner who asked what I use to create my marketing materials, and when I said Canva, she looked at me like, “What’s that?” I gasped. I mean… what do you mean what’s that?! Buckle up, because I’m about to share the top five ways Canva has completely changed my business — and how it can do the same for you.

1. Branding Kit — Your Business, But Make It Beautiful

When I first started rebranding myself in real estate, I created a branding kit in Canva. It includes:

  • My color palette

  • Fonts

  • Styles

  • Even my logo

It’s saved in Canva and applied to everything I create. I even used it to make my email signature — a clean, branded sign-off with a photo of me and clickable links. Total game-changer.

Bonus tip: If you’re thinking “I don’t even have a logo,” no worries. Canva has amazing templates and tools to help you build one — no graphic design degree needed.

2. Presentations That Don’t Put People to Sleep

Coming from a teaching background, I LOVE a good slideshow. And Canva’s presentation tools? Unreal. Whether I’m building out a mastermind deck for coaching agents or a listing presentation for a client, Canva makes it look polished and professional.

There are two versions of Canva — free and Pro. I always say: the Pro version (around $120/year) is the best money I spend all year. But the free version has plenty of gold too — it’s a great place to start.

3. Freebies & Lead Magnets Galore

Real talk: Canva is my secret weapon for building trust and generating leads. I use it to create all kinds of freebies:

  • Buyer’s guides

  • Seller’s guides

  • New construction guides

  • Neighborhood spotlights (Salt Lake City, Park City, St. George — you name it!)

  • Social media content calendars

  • Reels guides

The possibilities are endless. If you’re looking to grow your database and deliver value, this is your jam.

4. Video Editing Without the Overwhelm

YES, you can edit videos in Canva. And YES, I do it all the time — from full YouTube videos to Instagram Reels. Canva has:

  • A huge b-roll library

  • Background music

  • Easy-to-use timeline features

  • Built-in animations

  • Seamless exporting for social media

I’ve launched multiple YouTube channels using Canva for editing. If you're thinking, “That sounds cool, but I don’t know how to edit videos,” don’t worry — I’ve got a whole YouTube course that breaks it down for real estate agents (and it works for other industries too!). You can find it linked in the show notes below.

5. Thumbnails That Stop the Scroll

Let’s be honest — if your video thumbnail doesn’t catch attention, people might not click. I use Canva to create all of my YouTube thumbnails, and because I already have my branding kit, it’s just a matter of swapping out text and images. Boom — done.

Final Thoughts

Whether you’re creating a listing presentation, launching a lead magnet, editing a video, or building a YouTube presence — Canva is a one-stop shop that can truly take your real estate business to the next level.

And remember — you don’t have to know it all right now. When I started, I binge-watched YouTube tutorials and played around until it clicked. Keep going, friend. You’ve got this.

Let’s keep building the modern way — with tools that actually make life easier.
