Thinking About Quitting Real Estate? Read This First.

If you're feeling frustrated, burnt out, or questioning if real estate is still the right path for you—you're not alone. The market has shifted, interest rates have gone up, and the excitement you once felt when you got your license might feel like a distant memory. But before you throw in the towel, let’s talk about what’s really going on and how you can shift your mindset to not just survive—but thrive.

This post was inspired by a recent coaching call with an agent who was feeling discouraged. She left a corporate job to pursue real estate, craving the freedom and fulfillment of running her own business. But after a few years, she found herself struggling—wondering if she should go back to corporate life because she wasn’t making the income she had hoped for.

If any of that sounds familiar, let’s dive into a few key pieces of advice that can help you shift your perspective and get back on track.

1. Your Mindset is Everything

I remember when I first started in real estate, and I hadn’t sold a single home yet. Everyone kept talking about mindset, and honestly, I was tired of hearing it. But the truth is, what we think, we attract. If you constantly tell yourself, “I have no business,” guess what? You’re going to see more of that. Your thoughts lead to either action or inaction.

If what you’ve been doing for lead generation isn’t working, it may be time to shift strategies. But first, take a look at your mindset. Are you waking up every day believing in your success? Are you focused on abundance rather than lack?

A great resource I recommend is The Miracle Morning for Real Estate Agents. This book changed my morning routine and, ultimately, my business. It encourages daily habits like journaling, exercising, reading, and setting intentions—things that can put you in the right frame of mind to attract the kind of business you want.

2. Celebrate the Wins—Big and Small

When you’re feeling discouraged, it’s easy to focus on everything that’s going wrong. But what if you shifted your perspective? Start looking for five things every day that brought you joy or success. It could be as small as the sun shining or as big as a new client inquiry. The more you focus on gratitude, the more you’ll start to attract positive energy—and positive opportunities.

I personally use journaling to track these moments. I used to do pen and paper, but now I dictate into my phone, capturing moments of gratitude and success as they happen. And on tough days, I look back and remind myself why I do what I do.

3. Are You Taking Care of YOU?

Burnout is real. And it’s often a sign that you’re not prioritizing yourself. Are you getting enough exercise? Eating well? Drinking enough water? Taking breaks? If not, your energy levels will drop, and so will your motivation.

As a wife and mom of four, I know firsthand how overwhelming life can get. In the early days of my business, I was just happy to survive the day. But as I grew, I learned that prioritizing self-care wasn’t just good for me—it was essential for my business.

Be mindful of the season of life you’re in. Give yourself grace. But also, make sure you’re filling your own cup so you can show up fully for your clients and business.

4. Shorten Your Timeline for Success

One of the biggest game-changers in my business was reading The 12-Week Year. This book teaches you how to accomplish more in 12 weeks than most people do in a year. Instead of setting annual goals, break them into focused 12-week sprints. It creates urgency and clarity, helping you take action faster.

If you feel stuck, ask yourself: What’s one thing I can commit to for the next 12 weeks that will move my business forward? Then, go all in.

Final Thoughts: Keep Going!
