How to Thrive as a Realtor Mom: My Top Tips for Success
Let’s face it: being a real estate agent and a mom can feel like juggling two full-time jobs. Without the right systems, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed or stuck. But I’m here to share some of my top “Mom in Real Estate” tips — the things I wish I had known years ago when I was building my business. Let’s dive in!
Pick the Right Brokerage
Your brokerage can make or break your experience as a real estate agent. Over my 16 years in the business, I’ve been with four different brokerages — from a tiny boutique shop in Orange County to regional and international brands like Keller Williams.
What I learned along the way is this: find a brokerage that gives you the right support, training, and flexibility for your lifestyle.
As a mom, I needed a place that allowed me to be fully engaged even when I was doing school drop-offs, carpool duty, or waiting at orthodontist appointments. For me, that turned out to be eXp Realty, which let me plug into virtual meetings and trainings wherever I was.
Whatever brokerage you choose — big, small, local, international — make sure it fits your needs, your business goals, and your family life.
Schedule Your Time
Here’s the truth: if you don’t control your schedule, your schedule will control you.
During the school year, I sprint from 8:30 AM to 3 PM — client meetings, home tours, writing contracts, and more — because I know that after school, it’s family time. That’s when I pick up my kids, help with homework, and shuttle them to activities.
You don’t have to work 24/7 to be successful. Block out focused time for business and protected time for family. And if needed, build in an evening window when your spouse or a family member can cover the kids while you show homes or meet with clients.
Surround Yourself with the Right People
Who you align yourself with matters.
When I first started, I sat in a lot of meetings with agents who were building their businesses in ways that didn’t resonate with me. It wasn’t until I found other mom agents — people building businesses from the carpool line just like I was — that I truly felt supported and inspired.
Find mentors, colleagues, and communities that align with the way you want to work. Whether it’s local agents or a national network, surrounding yourself with like-minded people will help you grow faster and feel less alone in the journey.
Audit Your Business Regularly
Take time weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly to ask yourself: What’s working? What’s not? Where am I wasting time or money?
When I started, I did everything myself — but once I hired a transaction coordinator, it freed up a massive amount of time. Outsourcing the right tasks helps you focus on what matters: generating new business and serving your clients.
Also, look at where your business is coming from. If you’re getting leads from social media — double down on it. If it’s your sphere of influence — pour into that. But you’ll only know what’s working if you pause and evaluate.

Mama, you can build a thriving real estate business and be an amazing mom — but it takes intention, strategy, and the right support system.
